The duty station primarily serves the north section of the national forest and is currently located in Unicoi, TN. There are plans to construct a new ranger station south of Watauga Lake off US Highway 321 and relocate North Zone Engineering to the new facility in 2-5 years. The forest recreation program features opportunities for sightseeing, trails, water-based adventure, camping and fish & wildlife related activities.
